Roman Stary

Former professional player in Austria, Roman finished his active football career in 2006. Since then, Roman has received his UEFA PRO License as well as his Elite junior license. Roman Stary is now at FK Austria Wien as an academy coach.

Roman Stary

Retired Austrian midfielder Roman Stary was born Dec. 18, 1973, in Vienna. After his playing career in Austria (15 years for Rapid, Austria Wien, Innsbruck, FC Kärnten) ended, he began his training career in the Academy in Carinthia. He coached several teams and was assistant coach in the First Division until 2013.

Since 2013, he has coached the U16 of Austria Wien and also worked as assistant coach for the U19 and U20 National Team of Austria (third place U19 European Championship, and U20 World Cup in New Zealand two years ago). He has coached the U15 team of Austria Wien since the summer of 2016.

Additionally, Stary started a team of disabled athletes for Austria Wien called ‘Special Violets’, and was instructor for the SCORT-Association in a camp in Indonesia.
